While the likelihood of someone stealing a helmet is probably pretty small (I don't know anyone who's had one stolen), still, it pays to be cautious. This lock is a cheap, easy way to lock your helmet without having an ugly piece of hardware permanently attached to your motorcycle (assuming you can even find a place to attach one on a modern motorcycle). I clip my HelmetLok to the fender rack on my bike. The lock is sturdy enough to last for years and small enough to carry in a pocket or tucked away in a saddlebag. I keep mine in the Grifter "stash box" behind my license plate. You set your own 3-digit combination, so forgetting the combo should never be a problem. The only downside to this lock is that many modern motorcycles don't have a lot of places that this lock can clip around that are convenient for hanging a helmet. It will go around a 1-inch handlebar, but it is a tight and awkward fit. If you have a luggage rack you should have no problem. You can also get an optional steel cable to go with this lock that can make locking your helmet a bit easier if you have no ready access to a rack or frame tube, and with the cable also lock up your jacket when you don't want to lug your riding gear around when you're off the bike. And of course, since the lock is portable, you can take it with you and use it on any bike you happen to be riding. Motorcyclists are always looking for a helmet lock to secure their hundred plus, dollar helmet. One they can use with out having the helmet bang against your paint job in the wind. HelmetLok can secure your helmet almost anywhere on the bike. I set my helmet on the backrest and hook the HelmetLol through the ring onto the rack. Nothing dangling from the frame or bars, or blowing in the breeze. And if it rains when I'm in the restaurant or store, the inside of my helmet is still nice and dry. Its incredibly affordable and a breeze to use. No keys to fight with... or loose. For under $20, it's definitely worth a try. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ And odd sort of lock product *by S***I on Reviewed in the United States on May 15, 2012* This lock with the optional cable is an odd sort of lock that turns out to be useful particularly when you want to cable-up your belongings so they don't casually wander away.The size and shape is convenient, but it does appear to be pretty light weight, and the cable is also rather thin - good for packing light, not so good if you really need some security.
