I started reading the print version at home and the Inkling version on the floor via iPad, but quickly realized that the electronic version was suitable for both. There were times while we were rounding that I found immediate answers or figures to help explain what we were discussing as a team. As far as content, the book is very well written, with just the right level of detail for a third/fourth year student or intern. (I imagine many residents will still appreciate the resource.) The book is also a quick read, so even though it seems quite long, you can power through chapters with ease. Marino conveys strong opinions about where the research meets or differs from practice in the ICU, but I think it is more valuable to know his opinion upfront. Review: Must read - I have been an ICU nurse for several years now. I have found this book to be helpful, a very good refresher, and at times very much a great resource for all one covers in the unit(s). It's been most useful when floating to sister units and encountering processes and diagnosis I'm not famialar with. Paul Marino has done a great job with this book. You'll find the writing easy to follow and understand ((even if you're new to critical care)). Also he covers a vast amount of data, so you won't get bored reading it. If you are a diligent student of the ICU, you will acquire a good bit of necessary knowledge from this book that will serve to better you, as you better other! Happy reading :) ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ One of the best medical texts I've purchased *by E***M on February 14, 2015* One of the best medical texts I've purchased. An easy read, with up to date research. The combo print and inkling version is a great deal. The eBook has multiple addendums that cite new research that occurred after publication. The author clearly injects some of his personal brand of medicine into the text, but he lets you know this up front and backs all of it up through evidence.
