Review: Nice texture and adhesion - The box had been opened and taped shut on one end. All can were dented up but the hike clips were still on and the lids were secure. First can was fine, havn't opened the others yet. Used a drill mixer to make sure this was blended well. Paint is very thick compared to regular paint and goes on easily (be sure to prep the surface properly) Covered perfectly with 2 coats but did one more with a textured roller just to be sure. I used a brush for most of my project due to having a lot of corners and small spaces. Paint self levels a bit. DO NOT GO BACK OVER WET PAINT... IT WILL BUNCH UP. LET IT DRY AT LEAST AN HOUR. Sand any bumps, drips, and "high traffic"areas between coats. 70 degrees and 50% humidity, first coat dried solid in about 3 hours.... touchable in about an hour. 2nd coat wasn't totally dry for 4 hours but was also touchable in a little over an hour. The porous nature of wood along with the thick and textured nature of this paint would create a very good mechanical bond when applied. Obviously some woods are more porous than others, so it may adhere to a soft wood like pine much better than a very dense wood like teak. Porosity aside, if you sand the wood very well with coarse sandpaper like 80 grit, you would still achieve an excellent bond. I would not use any sort of primer on the wood prior to application, however, don’t be surprised if the wood soaks up some the initial first coat. I had some bad luck with Rust-Oleum spray cans of undercoating, it kept clogging, but this roll-on version worked great. I used a a cheap disposable roller and stored it in a plastic bad between coats and was able to use it several times. It dried super fast on a warm summer day.
