    But wait, there's less....

The Good:Great box, great service department, it does what it actually does very well meaning, speed, max speed, ride distance, avg speed, cadence, avg cadence, ride time, calories, nice ride graphicsThe not so good;1. No instructions - $3 box but no 10 cent instructions.2. Deceptive and disingenuous marketing: e.g., "GPS features providing location and tracking, and accelerometer features to record inclination" from their website.3. The pretty screen says "Ride Map". The LIveRider does NOT map or "track" the ride. It shows your curent location. Accelerometer does not record anything for a user to view. This website statement is disingenuous crap.4, The ride record is in a useless .txt format. Service dept told me it's a CSV but it is not and there's no way to alter the file that is emailed.5. There is no cumulative odometer....just individual rides so useless as replacement for conventional cyclometer6. Speaking of which my wireless cyclosport suffers massive intereference from the iPhone....a fact LiveRider knows but has not revealed on their website. Your wireless cycle computer may be worthless when the iPhone is on.7. The "lifetime battery" they fail to mention except in the fine print has no specs (remember no instructions) so no way to know who's life is the measure for lifetime or how to replace the battery.8. In use the LiveRider appears to suck down the iPhone battery about as fast as being on a phone call. For my iPhone that's about 4 hours so the LiveRider won't handle a long ride. This is another fact that is not specified or revealed by LiveRider but they must be aware of it.9. The warranty is different if you buy direct from LiveRider vs buying from one of their recommended partners on their web site. This is not revealed unless you have an issue.....worst practices for a company that wants to provide great customer service. I had to fight LiveRider accounting for postage...not a big deal but the ethics bothered me.10. The cradle rotates no matter how tight I made the zip ties. For $100 they might have included a 10 cent antifriction shim. I've had to fool with this a lot.11. The website doesn't bother with simple points like the green light on the dongle must flash or the connection is not being made. A bunch of zeros means the connection is not made. If the chain link doesn't say "start" the connection is not made. It would take 10 minutes to write this up but remember - no instructions in the pretty box and darn little but marketing hype on the website.LIveRider is planning upgrades and new features. They just don't bother telling us unsuspecting customers. We'll see if they decide to give us new features that should have been included at no additional cost. I wish I could rate this thing higher but it is hugely disappointing. If it had been $20 or $30 with the features honestly described, real instructions and specs etc, I'd rate it higher. I would not spend $100 until this product evolves a lot. I'm a marketing guy and I wish New Potato well. My recommendation to them is to put their service man in charge of marketing and fix their whole program.

    trash

Hooked up all the sensors(pain in the A**). Not compatible with my Ipod touch, just judging from how well the sensor install went I doubt it would have worked anyhow. If you want nice with all the options- spend the cash, if you want cheap- go to walmart. don't buy this junk.

    A regretful decision to purchase

*by B***N on Reviewed in the United States on May 17, 2011*

I was also totally psyched about this purchase for training with it, but it left much to be desired.1. To start, there were no set up instructions included. After a quick google search I found some on the New Potato website.2. Mounting bracket on rear chainstay is far from being versatile. If you don't have the exact frame that they modeled this thing on, then you can forget about it mounting correctly.3. Even when I finally did get the dang thing mounted, it still would not read cadence or speed on my iphone. In the words of Jim Cramer, a definite "DON'T BUY".
