Previous pictures show it does.** A: No the Mini doesn't come with a belt sheath. I think the full size one does, I think. Not to big for your pocket. **Q: what is the blade steel?** A: The blade is High Carbon Steel. Composition of various steel types/grades is defined and standardized. (And there are many.) I believe the type of this blade’s steel is 340 based on its name. The blade itself is not stamped (except for maker info) as some blades are. We have the old belt knife version of this, too. Both are very nice knives. **Q: Will this knife produce sparks from striking flint?** A: Yes ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A no nonsense, gorgeous little knife *by M***E on February 14, 2024* Not sure about value for your money, in the sense that you can probably purchase a folding knife for half the cost of this one, and it'll serve you well. But this product is a beauty. Not in the artsy way a turquoise and silver knife from a tourist trap out west, but in a no nonsense, "form follows function" manner.I've owned a Grohmann fixed blade knife for about 45 years. It's been in my backpack or on my belt while backpacking in the American West and Europe. It certainly wasn't treated gently over the years...opened tin cans with it in a pinch. It's banged up, but it still functions and remains sharp. It's headed with me to Kejimkujik this spring.I fully expect this lovely little folding knife will serve me well for years to come. A knife this lovely in its no nonsense sort of way is a joy to hold and to own. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Art that works. *by N***Y on March 8, 2015* I've had the Grohmann fixed blade #1 & #2 counterparts for 10 years now and find them among the best knifes I own.Now I stumbled across the folding version and had to have it. Just opened the box and it's really beautiful.While everyone seems to be into "tacticool," there should be a place in your collection for a knife like this.It follows its predecessors in being ergonomic although it is more blocky than the fixed blade counterparts.It reeks of quality & pride and I am very appreciative someone could create such a superb, but utilitarian object.(NOTE: I'm going call this "Russell" even though it's Mini-Russell.)In comparison to #1 Trout & Bird fixed blade, the Russell's grip is more squared vs the "nothing but curves" feel to the #1. The #1 amazing small "waist" where the wood joins the blade is more squared off on the Russell, presumably to support the mechanics of the folder. The folder's blade is maybe an inch shorter and while the blade is largely the same overall geometry, the Russel's tip has more of a down sweep than the #1, but the overall oval shape betrays it's ancestry. I'd would have like to have see more rounded edges in the handle, but nothing that is a matter of great concern.Some comparisons to Grohmann #1:#1 Trout & Bird: 72 gm (2.5 oz) Grip length is about the same as the Russell.Edged portion of blade is 95mm (~3 3/4 in).Grip is 13mm (~1/2") wide,Mini Russell: 82 grams (2.9 oz), around 100 mm (4") folded, and blade edge length is 70 mm (2 3/4). Grip is 15mm (9/16") wide.Both blades are 2.5mm wide.The blade very sharp. I mean like, cut yourself if you carelessly open sharp. That's really nice, as that's how it should be. I may have to get a spare for the curio cabinet.Sorry for the crappy photo, (Mini Russel next to caliper and #1 is the one with the lanyard.) ### ⭐⭐⭐ Basic Expectations Not Met *by G***N on October 8, 2023* I purchased this Grohmann GR340S-BRK Mini Russell Lockback several months ago. My reasons were the Grohmann reputation and the changes in Canada "weapons" laws for crossing from the USA into Canada. The new laws made carrying my existing pocket knife impossible, so I reasoned that a folder made in Canada (Nova Scotia)( would be acceptable. It was no problem at the border, but the knife was not the quality expected. The wooden scale is nice, but it is not finished off at the bolster. The interface remains sharply angular and proud of the adjoining metal. The knife was not sharpened and would cut nothing, even after sawing back and forth. I have repeatedly tried to sharpen it, but the metal is not producing a reasonably useable edge for even cutting up an apple, for example. Also the overall curve of the handle into the blade is not comfortable for slicing (or in this case attempting to slice). It is a shame because the knife is a good looking piece of work, but it is more a piece of art than a useable pocket knife.
