A short ribbon cable e.g. five-conductor Dupont male/female gets around this provided its attached firmly elsewhere in the case to avoid shorts.Getting Raspian to use the thing is a different matter, especially given all the bad advice online.[slightly revised instructions 2020-11-08]FYI On Buster, 1) use raspi-config to enable the I2C bus, 2) add the line "dtoverlay=i2c-rtc,ds3231" to the "[all]" section at the end of "/boot/config.txt", 3) comment out the exit on check for systemd from "/lib/udev/hwclock-set".1 & 2 add the RTC to the device-tree causing the 'rtc_ds1307' module to be loaded automatically which creates "/dev/rtc0" and "/dev/rtc". Raspian will now do everything other than read it at start-up which is done by 3. Item 3 isn't a quality solution as it doesn't run early enough in the boot process so you need to keep the 'fake-hwclock' apt package installed to ensure the clock is sane early enough to prevent time-consuming filesystem checks and spurious timestamps. I've yet to find the 'correct' way of getting this done from the RTC hardware. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Very impressive! *by P***N on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 27 August 2019* These are some of the best RTC modules I have come across. They come complete with backup battery, are very small and neat and five out of five worked first time out of the bag. Although intended for RasPi, they work perfectly with ESP modules and, presumably, with Arduino boards. Excellent value.
