But I chose it for it's small size and it has turned out to be an extremely useful tool. One of the things that I like is that the two legs of the square are the same thickness so you can use it to mark lines on surfaces that are 90 degrees apart. Many squares have a thicker short leg and a thinner "blade" for the longer leg. I don't know - it's just a tool that I didn't realize I needed so much until I got it and now that I have it, I use it a ton. It's very well made and its small size allows me to keep it always handy in a pocket. You can see a small gap in the top line of the right side of the chisel...** A: That is the point! Check your chisels for square. That one needs some more work. **Q: would you say this is good for setting up power tools, like a table saw blade for a 90 degree cut, or tuning a brand new power tool?** A: I think it could be used to check 90-degree for a table saw blade, but it might be a little small for that. What I mainly use it for is to mark for joinery on face and side or edge without having to move the tool. Trying to line up a mark on one surface to mark another can be a source of error. I also like it to quick check square corners during glue-up. **Q: What is outside dimension? Thickness?** A: Roughly 2 1/2" inches tall by 1 5/8" wide (across the bottom). It's 1/2" on all sides. Even though I saw the same picture of it superimposed on the chisel blade before I decided to order it, I was still surprised by how small it was when I opened the package. It almost seems like it should be on a keychain. With that being said, it is a Woodpeckers product, which equates to a top notch Made in USA tool. I have a personal woodshop and can envision using it for squaring small projects or like the picture shows, chisel type tools.
