Bandfuse best learning tool ever!!! *by J***Y on Reviewed in the United States on December 7, 2013* Update after 2 weeks,I'm still playing this every night and love it. I had 2 other people that were thinking about buying it (that had never played guitar before)came over and tried it and both bought it and a guitar the next day. The tutorials get worse as the game goes on however there is a practice section where you can take and play any song at any skill level, reduce the speed from full down to to %60, you can also set it to stop at each note and it will wait for you to play it before moving to the next one. I also lets you be able to select which parts of the song you want to play and loop the same part over and over. I have been using this to learn the chords (multiple notes) and its working well because I can find the finger positions and strum the note and and it waits till I'm in position for the next one.I did a lot of research between Rocksmith and Bandfuse and choose Bandfuse. If you want to learn to play guitar this is the one. The deciding point for me was the way the music was displayed. Rocksmith uses its own way to display the music while Bandfuse uses guitar tablature (real guitar music) scrolled across the screen so you learn to read the music as well as play the guitar. I have never played an instrument before so I was starting from zero. There are videos for every step of the learning process from how to hold the guitar, where to place your fingers, to advanced techniques. The training lessons start at the basics, from just plucking from one string to another, then to one fret on one string to different frets on the same string and so on. Before I bought this I bought a book on guitar and became overwhelmed by the second chapter and was worried that this would be too much but whatever your skill level (if any) you WILL be able to learn. You don't need a fancy guitar the game adjusts the tone for the songs your on and has different amps with adjustable settings if you just want to mess around. If your buying a guitar I would recommend the les paul special II over the packaged one with the game. I you have short fingers get a strat the neck is smaller and easier to get your hand around. If you do a search for "Bandfuse fender strat" there are packages out there. Everything I read said les paul style guitars are alittle harder to learn to play than stratocasters because the neck is larger but it is easier to transfer to an acoustic or a strat with a smaller neck and if I am going to spend time learning this then I'm going to do it right.All the notes are color coded to which fingers to use and that has been a great help. It also gives you a score on each exercise based on tone and timing so you have feedback on how much your improving. The game comes with an adapter to hook the audio directly to your stereo so there is ZERO audio lag when your playing. You can hook this only to your tv but you will notice a slight lag (search tv input lag if you don't know what I'm talking about). And then calibrate the video so everything is in perfect sync. If you have played before and want to play along with the songs there are 5 levels where you only play some of the notes up to where you play them all. I was worried that there was no DLC available bur I read they will be releasing 10 songs a month starting in Jan, and since I haven't mastered the basics yet (though I'm positive with this I will) it doesn't matter to me yet.There is also band pack avail so you can hook 2 guitars, a bass guitar and a mic up and play with 4 people it has an acoustic adapter, so you don't need to have an electric guitar if you already have an acoustic. There are only 2 accessories I recommend buying with this, one is a guitar strap even if you are sitting down it keeps the thing from falling off you lap, the other is a stand so you have somewhere to put it when your not playing. You don't need a tuner the game has one built in.Overall this is a great value, excellent learning tool, and a very very well thought out program (they included an adapter for the audio instead of just saying good enough). Its not gimmicky, its the real deal (real music not some interface that only they have) if you want to learn how to play THIS IS THE ONE. If you buy Rocksmith you will be limited to the songs they have and if you want to play anything else you will have to start over learning how to read the music buy this and just learn once, the right way.If this review was helpful please click the yes button ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4.0 out of 5 stars Great Game, but nor for begginers! *by K***N on Reviewed in the United States on January 10, 2014* If you have some guitar experience (20 years) and was given both BandFuse and RockSmith for Christmas.I love playing RockBand for fun and my family thought I would enjoy playing a RockBand like game with a real guitar. They were so right!First of all I am giving this game 4 stars because it is a really good game, but it has some serious flaws.If you are brand new to guitar or thinking of getting this for someone that is brand new to guitar then DO NOT get this game. The lessons beginner lessons are so bad it will discourage someone from playing because they wont learn anything. The first lesson on learning how to hold a guitar is by Five Finger Death Punch . They NEVER tell you how to old a guitar but make fun of people that play sitting down saying real men play a guitar standing up. There are 1000's of people playing bar gigs around the country every day sitting down. Next, they never tell you how to hold a pick. Instead George Lynch tells you he learned to hold a pick wrong and it limits some of what he can do, but never shows you how to hold a pick. I think it's great that BandFuse has the successful guitarist as part of the game but 70% of what they are talking about is worthless crap more to boost the egos of successful guitarist and offers nothing to the everyday player. Get RockSmith if you are band new to guitar. There lessons are far better, plus the arcade games in RockSmith will make any guitarist better and are incredibly fun to play. You can teach an old dog new tricks!If you already understand the basics then this game is great. For those that already know how to do many of the basics and are familiar with tablature you will find this game to be a lot of fun. In fact as an experienced guitarist, I would recommend BandFuse over RockSmith because I am already familiar with tab and found that RockSmith's highway thing was kind of confusing at first.Video Game basics 101. Where is the restart button? Seriously, this is one of the most basic concept of video games. You mess up during a game you hit the start button then you hit restart. BandFuse does not have this most simplistic option. Instead, you have to completely back out and select your option and start all over. Rocksmith is doing that thing for you so it's not up to your skills.
