On the front there is a little button to switch the brightness modes, or to have it turned off. I do like that the button is on the front because you can change modes as you want, but it also makes it very easy for an unwanted guest to turn it off, and therefore stay in the dark. Definitely not a huge deal, but maybe something to consider depending on your use for these.They are pretty bright, and they do a good job of charging up during the day.
