    No principles of workbench design, just a lot of nice pictures and discussion

disappointing - expected to learn the theory of what makes a great workbench, what it needs to accomplish for doing one's work, etc., instead, it is just a survey of old and new benches. But without a set of principles on which to judge how a bench adheres to those principles, the comments on the benches shown is without basis and just a survey without much value. I wanted to design my own bench.

There are some really good ideas in this book for workbenches. I actually made the torsion box workbench out of melamine shelving boards, homasote, and 1 by 4's because I was intrigued by the simplicity and flexibility. It really works well for average woodworking projects.
