They work really well in general. About 8 out of ten come out of the box just perfect, a few are sticky or stiff, etc- send those back. You'll get a good one. I have some really nice Interapid, Starrett's and B&S but I like these for everyday jobs like tramming in a vise or a head. I don't think of DTI's as quantitative tools even on a surface plate really. These things work really well for the price. If I drop one or run one against a stop, or turn on the spindle - its not a catastrophe. Fills a great need for everyday use. They're actually pretty rugged. Great value for me. Review: Small but sensitive - Very nice dial test indicator. The face is very small, only about 1.25" in diameter but the meter is well constructed and very sensitive. Its movement is very smooth across its entire range of motion and it returns to zero precisely and consistently.
