A decade later, there are now 6 particular types of dog within 2 blocks of my house. They are all the same type. I'm not naming the type because the advocates for these toddler-maulers are absolute psychopaths and I don't want to be trolled. After a couple of recent attacks--one which my neighbor almost died from blood loss--another where my 20lb dog was grabbed by the neck through our fence while in our yard, I was terrified to walk to my mailbox without a huge kitchen knife, let alone walk my dogs anymore. I keep this bear spray in our dog bag so that anywhere we go with our dogs, we have protection. I haven't had to use it yet but it's done wonders for my anxiety...along with building a new fence. Plus the dog that attacked my neighbor was put down and the owner was sued. I still avoid going past certain houses but I'm back to walking and gardening and enjoying my neighborhood again.
