So Yes... it could be applied with a syringe. Now, how strong that might be when it dries, is something that I cannot speak to. "Probably" it would be hard and strong, but perhaps not. I often mix Durham's Water Putty with lightweight spackle (about 50/50) and then dilute it a bit with water. This makes a great, easily sandable filler for balsa wood....If you are not familiar with this product, it comes as a dry powder (similar to pancake mix)... and you dilute it with water to suit your application... **Q: Does this only come in white? I need to fill knot holes in a wood floor and wanted a dark color** A: I have mixed the putty with the stain instead of water, you can stain after if it needs to be darker **Q: Can this be used on a rotted porch step if primed/painted after? One post says you need to add resin for hardening. Do you ? Tks!** A: Yes, absolutely! I used this product on a severely rotted window frame. I mixed the batter to the consistency of soft ice cream. Using a spackle knife I packed the putty into the rotted area and let dry 24 hours to cure. In the morning, I sanded, primed and painted it. This was three years ago, still looks great and it never leaked once. **Q: Can it be injected into rotted wood** A: The rotted wood must be treated with a product designed to "coat" affected area. The rotted wood that can be removed with, for example, a wire brush must be done. If the entire wood member is rotted it cannot be repaired. And cheers to you !! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Works great *by D***L on February 24, 2026* This stuff is fantastic and lasts along time ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ High quality, easy to use, inexpensive all purpose putty and wood filler *by A***E on September 29, 2017* This is a great product that should be in any DIY arsenal, especially at the outstanding price with the add-on program here. Costs at least double this at the local orange home center. This is a fine cream colored powder, you mix it with water. Mix it thin, it is a great pore/ grain filling skim coat. Mix it thicker, it's putty that will fill knot holes, etc. It says that it does not shrink but of course as it dries it will shrink a little, necessitating more than 1 application on deeper holes, etc. It also sands very well, you can get a great smooth finish on it. As with any putty it will take stains, etc but you always need to experiment prior to using it on your final project- it'll take stain, but differently than the surrounding wood. I mostly use it as a skim coat on plywood that I'll paint. I can save money with lower grade plywood, build my shelf/ cabinet etc, fill the grain and imperfections with this, sand it back flat and get a perfectly smooth & flat surface for painting. As the name says, it does dry rock hard, no joke. I would not say that it is structural- I guess you could mix in some fibers or aggregate to strengthen it, but I have not experimented with that yet. Anyway, if you build stuff, especially if you're a woodworker, you should have a tin of this stuff on the shelf.
