The adjusting slides should be in the front at the opposite end of the adjusting strap. Then you could loosen it to take it off much easier, and tighten it after you put it on. I am in my 70's and live alone. Adjusting the slides for the tightness on the shoulders is very difficult because you have to take it off to do it. Then you can't tell if you have it too tight or loose. If you have it under clothes it's even more difficult.
