## Description

Shimano has a history of passing design improvements and innovations in their top-end components onto their more value-priced component groups. The highly popular 105 road group is just such an example. The group evolved to 11-speed last year, an evolution that required an 11-speed chain similar to Dura-Ace and Ultegra. The HG600 105 11-speed chain is narrower for the 11-speed shifting technology and as a result it's lighter, too. It still offers that renowned Shimano durability. The Shimano HG600 is asymmetrical and non-directional for precision shifting action, and the inner plates have the SIL-TEC ultra-low friction treatment, which further increases durability and shifting efficiency while decreasing chain noise and friction. This chain can be used for both 11-speed road and mountain bike drivetrains.</p>

## Features

- SIL-TEC treatment on inner plates ensures ultra-low friction for reduced resistance
- Asymmetric, non-directional chain optimized for silky smooth, precision shifting
- Same durability as 10-speed chain
- Compatible with road and mountain bike 11-speed drivetrains

great chain for shimano 5800 group set

great chain for shimano 5800 group set. they last a long time (maybe 3000 miles?) if you keep it clean and well lubed. I RECOMEND ONLY rock n roll but others may be good too. rock n roll.i change my chain when it is 0.625% stretched. theoretically 0.75% stretched is okay but i care about my bike enough that i refuse to change it at that time.you ask might ask How I measure my chain stretch? buy a pair of calipers, measure distance from center of one chain pin to the center of another chain pin which is x chain pins away. each chain pin is 0.5 inches away from the next chain pin when it comes from the factory. if you measure the distance where x equals 6, the distance should be 3 inches. if you measure the distance where x equals 6, and you get 3*1.0075 inches in distance which equals 3.01875 inches or more, that would be equal to 0.625% stretched. 3.0225 inches would be 0.75% stretched. take 3 independent measurements of the chain where you measure for different values of x and average the stretch % values. buy a park tool chain stretch checker for easy checking of the 0.5% stretch. once it gets to 0.5% stretched, it is time to start checking your chain with calipers once every 500 miles (for me this is once every 3 weeks). if your a bigger heavier guy probably check it every 250 miles. at 3 inches the difference between 0.5% stretched and .75% stretched is only ~0.2 millimeters! this is such a small value! it would be a good idea to measure 12 inches (x=24) because the difference between these percentages results in a more detectable change of 0.8 millimeters! i'm not sure if there are calipers available that can measure a full foot with this kind of accuracy!

I bought this chain to replace the KMC chain that was original equipment on a new Fuji Gran Fondo that I had recently purchased. The KMC chain worked fine but I felt that as the bike had Shimano 105 components, it would be best to use a Shimano chain. Although there is very little noticeable difference between the 2 chains, I feel better knowing that my drive line components are a matching set. The chain runs very smooth and shifts well.
