You had to continuously replace the batteries. And true to form for me, the batteries ALWAYS failed the day I was expecting a very important postal delivery that I did not want setting on my front porch. My last wireless unit gave up the ghost recently so I decided I'd give this unit a try and I am happy I did. I love this thing. Easy to set up! Many (almost too many) choices for the ring tone! No batteries! And best of all. it actually works the way the manufacturer says it will! What a novelty to have something that works as advertised.There was a blue led that was on constantly in the inside unit you plug into the wall. The light was unnecessary so I opened the unit and removed it. I try to be conscious of parasitic electrical draw around my home as, believe it or not, each of those little suckers add up, costing you money every month.At present, I would recommend this product. And no, I did not receive any kind of discount or incentive to write this review. I rarely do reviews but when a product meets my high standards, I feel it is appropriate to share my good fortune with others.
