I bought it for my son N partner and they are delighted with it. **Q: What size is the mortar in diameter?** A: The diameter is 14cm edge to edge, 11cm inner rim to inner rim. It's great, and looks good, too. **Q: Do you have to cure before using** A: I'm not sure what u mean .. but I always use a little oil after cleaning . and it's a lovely item . **Q: Is the copper base non slip and will it damage my worksurface?** A: The base is quite smooth metal with slightly rounded edges. It slides around a bit, but there's enough weight to keep it pretty stable. Excellent at grinding and crushing without needing loads of muscle power - it really is so easy to use, I use it almost daily. It's very heavy, but so sturdy and I would say it is more grey/charcoal than black, but still beautiful.
