I must be the only person that doesn't think these are awesome

Bamboobies have a cult like following that, now that I've used them, I just don't quite understand. The daytime pads slip around and the heart-shaped pad makes for awkward placement. I've actually leaked through my clothes because the v of the heart slipped down under my nipple. I can see where maybe for larger chested women, that these might work better. For reference though, I'm a C cup and these babies are a lot of coverage on width. I also did not like how they aren't finished - it's a basic stitch about a quarter inch in - all the way around, leaving the layers exposed on the outer edge. The night time pads are giant and have no shape to them so they often crease inside my nightgown or sleeping bra. Both pads have the bamboo layer that goes against the skin which is very soft but is not wicking at all, leaving you feeling like you went to bed after a wet t-shirt contest. Keep on blogging these puppies, but they are totally not for me.

Bamboo fabric is toxic, buyer beware bamboo is NOT an eco-friendly alternative

First I want to say I do like the fact that these are thin and heart shaped, those both contribute to them being less visible in your bra and also contouring to the shape of the breast. However I have some from my first baby that I tried to reuse and they’re ok but definitely itchier than I remember. I also mistakenly thought that due to all the hype and false advertising that even though these aren’t organic cotton or organic bamboo that somehow the bamboo was ecologically friendly and not produced with toxic chemicals... well let me inform you all, there is NO such thing as “organic bamboo” and the process of making it is definitely NOT non-toxic... there’s an interesting article on the subject by vision times. So don’t be fooled by products labeled “organic bamboo” because they don’t exist, and don’t be fooled into thinking bamboo fabric is safe. I personally don’t want my sensitive nipples, that probably are absorbing any chemicals on the fabric, to be effected by these or any other nursing pads. Also all these nursing pads have TPU plastic on the backs to waterproof them, look to make sure it’s TPU and not some other more toxic plastic if you buy a different brand, supposedly TPU is a safer plastic than vinyl or others but not much testing has been done to totally prove that. Seems the only non-toxic plastic used for waterproofing is food-grade plant-based polyethylene. So if you care about your health and your baby’s health and don’t want exposure to toxic chemicals I suggest getting Organic Cotton Nursing Pads.

FYI - MOLD will grow in these pads over long term use and if they aren't washed immediately when wet...

*by D***N on Reviewed in the United States on March 16, 2016*

I have been using these pads since the birth of our daughter in June 2015. Overall I have really liked them as they are super soft and incredibly absorbent (especially the overnight pads). I want to share some important feedback though for the overnight pads in particular. I noticed that around the 6 month mark of using the overnight pads that there was a small dark spot, even after washing, but ignored it. Shortly after, I then noticed that there was a slight "firmness" in the center of the pad, even after washing, which made me a little suspicious. I recalled reading one review on here that stated that her pad grew mold, but I continued using the pad. At this point (9 months of usage of the pad), it now had a very distinct firmness in the center of the pad, even after washing. I also could clearly see a dark haze. So I decided that I needed to cut the pad open to see... (please see photo). The pad most definitely had been growing mold. I know this is gross to see and think about, but it's important you ladies know that this is possible with these pads over extended usage. It's also a bit unsettling because I'm unsure of any health risks to my baby because my nipples have been in close proximity to this mold for many months - but I'm grateful she's not had any unexplained medical issues at this point. I have also read that this mold can cause breast thrush - but I have never had that issue either.(FYI, I would wash my pads when they would get soaking wet from leaking, but sometimes I would go a few nights with the same pair if it was only small leaks. In addition, when my pads would be thrown in for washing, they sometimes would sit there in the hamper for up to a week until I did a load - so I fully admit this could have contributed to the mold. I only had 2 pairs of the overnight pads, and only do wash about every 2 weeks or so, so that's why I would use them as long as I could before washing them). Lesson learned...So, in closing, I think these are great pads. But when using over the long term, definitely monitor them for a dark haze and firmness as that most likely is mold in the inner layer. To prevent this mold, it seems the best course of action is to wash them the same day they become wet in any way. But this might be unrealistic for most moms, unless of course she has many pairs of these. Hope this helps!
