We have glass door knobs and it can be tricky for the adult, too, if your hands aren't perfectly dry or you don't know how to bypass the safety mechanism (as was the case with the babysitter who had to remove them when she couldn't figure out how to open the door). As for removing, the babysitter figured it out, but our toddler has not. I found the pieces difficult to snap together and remove - just what I wanted in this product - and expect my toddler to be unsuccessful when she figures out it can be removed. Highly recommend. This device is great to keep her out of the pantry and laundry room, where she can get into too much trouble. It is a little hard for her older siblings to open at times, and even parents when we are in a hurry! A great device, but am a little concerned what would happen if there was an emergency and seconds mattered! We have had other devices we bought at baby superstores that have a similar purpose and a little easier to open for big kids & adults.
