I thought that these were more for wood and such and only grabbed it off my shelf out of desperation but they cut well. I had to feed it a slow cutting speed (.001 or so per sec at 900 rpm) but it worked like a charm on 1045. I chewed one up after about an hour, but I had gotten a little impatient and dinged the very tip up. The flutes kept cutting! The price on these is good, like I said, just wish I could buy the 3mm in multi packs by themselves. Review: A little brittle, but they work well. - The small ones are likely to break, but that's kind of the nature of working with bits this small. To engrave I would set the passing depth at 0.5mm and the feed rate between 150 and 300 mm/min, spindle speed between 300 and 500 rpm. Aim a cooling fan at the work piece and keep a vacuum handy. **Q: Can It engrave on copper?** A: It's possible, but I wouldn't recommend it.
