That said: a Karli Watson style book with example programs, No. Little bits of code to show his point is all you get for the size and price of the book. Not sure what he was thinking when he wrote it. To learn something you need example programs to show how a feature works, not a line or two of code. The book is not hard for me to follow, just hard to put things together and figure out how they work for real. You can download the book code, look out, it's big too. But, I don't learn looking at other peoples code, I learn by typing it in, seeing it run, stepping through it, and fixing the errors myself. The book is also very dense, lots of new things packed in small writing, hard for my eyes to see. Hope this helps others when deciding on a .Net Core book to learn from. I think better to go find an older one in the Beginning series, go through it and try to understand .Net Core then proceed to a book like this.Not sure what the authors were thinking when they wrote this book. Now that I've spent some time with it, it's more of an encyclopedia than a learning book. For me, the book is pretty much useless. About the biggest waste of money I've done for awhile. There are better books out there to learn .NET CORE, and the .NET CORE is now up to 3.1, so a book I bought recently is now outdated and useless. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This book is a MONSTER! *by J***J on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on June 1, 2018* I'm only a few chapters into this book, but already I love it and know it was an excellent choice. This book assumes no existing knowledge of C# and very little knowledge of programming in general. Those who have C# experience will be able to skip many early chapters, but will find them a nice reference if they ever have a question or forget details about something. For those with programming experience in other language, including exposure to C and a little C++, I have been able to skim past some areas while learning C#-specific information. For anyone just starting, there will be a lot to learn, but this book will cover everything without magically assuming you learned it elsewhere. Once I've gotten up to speed, I can see using this book as a reference for a long time to come. The quality of writing in this book is top notch as well. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Best .Net Core book out there still for 2020 *by I***K on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on September 24, 2020* This is the most complete book still in 2020 for .NET Core. It might not cover .net core 3.x and above but it still covers everything you need to know to get up and running in everything the .NET Framework has to offer.
