You can buy cheap stuff but a lot of times you get what you paid for. She bought some low priced gloves a month or so ago and she hated them. I had to replace them just last week with some Gaiam Super Grippy Yoga Gloves. On the other hand, there are some great products at great prices. Case in point—the Peace Yoga Microfiber Towel Mat I bought her in January for Hot Yoga. It was less than half the cost of the Prana Yoga Mats we saw at REI and is a much better constructed product.Yoga wheels are a fairly recent arrival on the scene. They were invented in 2014 and didn't really catch on until 2015. Until recently, the only yoga wheels available were well made but expensive. An entry level model costs nearly $100 with the top of the line close to $200. In my case, that's a lot of money for a new product. My wife had surgery for a herniated disc a few years ago and she doesn't like using equipment that makes her back feel laterally unstable. I bought her an exercise ball and she quickly stopped using it for that reason. She had a theory that the yoga wheel would provide more stability but didn't want to expend that much money for something that might not be useful to her.Not surprisingly, it was Amazon to the rescue. The YogaDev product looked and sounded solid and was available at a much more reasonable price point. Now I feel stupid for even contemplating dropping $200+ on a product that would be very hard pressed to match the quality and construction, at least for my wife's needs.I was the first to 'test drive' the yoga wheel when it arrived. It felt very substantial and high quality removing it from the box. As an electronics geek I'm well aware that this is a very important moment for customer satisfaction—the 'unboxing'. It's hard to get a good feel for the quality of the construction and materials from the cellphone photos but I was very immediately very pleasantly surprised with my purchased. I'd hoped for a satisfactory product but the YogaDev was comparable to the Dharma Yoga Wheel and at a lower price. The wooded Dharma yoga wheels are beautiful to look at but it's debatable whether there's any difference in functionality between their product and the YogaDev.I'm not sure what the core of the wheel is made of but its some miracle of modern polymer technology—it's rock solid yet weighs discernibly less than my wife's 5 pound hand weights. The padding is also thick—it's TPE padding which you see a lot in yoga mats and other athletic equipment. It's great for the yoga wheel for the same reason it's great for mats—it's soft and provides a good cushion plus it's light, hypoallergenic and repels moisture (as well as bacteria, dust, pet and human hairs, etc.).Before I gave it to my wife I decided to try it out myself. I'm right at 200 pounds and my wife is substantially less. I figured I'd be a good 'stress test'--the product description claimed a breaking point of 300+ but if it did break my back could handle taking the bump. Can't validate the 300 pound claim but when I sat my 200 pounds down on it the wheel didn't budge. My wife was next up—she loved it and immediately snatched it up and ran off to put it through its paces. She says that it feels a lot more laterally stable than the exercise ball which is probably the most important thing for her. She's been using it constantly since it arrived.My only personal gripe is the colors—it reminds me of snowboarding clothes from the late 1980's. My wife loves the colors and they were the first thing she commented on. In all fairness, the wheel has similar colors to all of my wife's other yoga stuff. The yoga world is apparently big on Google 'material design' inspired hues. To each his own.PROS: Well constructed, impressive quality materials, rock solid yet extremely light. I'd buy it again with no reservation whatsoever. Great price for a killer product.CONS: I don't like the colors but that's personal preference. She ignores the difficult examples in the pamphlet that came with it and makes up simple but effective stretches that she uses every day. For example, she sits on a folding chair and rolls the wheel back and forth with alternating feet or bends over while seated abd uses her hands to roll it back and forth.
