I love this lamp but after a month of use I’m starting to have problems with it not working properly. Great buy for the price but sad it’s only lasted a month. Will contact the company to see if they have any advice. Lava is starting to just sit at the bottom and not move. Review: Takes a few days to work but after that...COOL! - As strange as it may seem you may need to break this lamp in for a few days. I was thoroughly convinced this thing was broken when I first plugged it in. I wasn't expecting to be in psychedelic heaven for the low price I paid for the lamp but I did want it to at least work. The bulb lit up, but, after over 8 hours the "lava" didn't budge at all...just sat at the bottom. The next evening I turned it on again...some movement but not much. Third day some sort of stalactite was hanging from the top just frozen there. I gave the lamp a little shake to try to get things moving, and saw some minimal movement. By day 4 I turned it on not expecting anything and...whaddya know....it started working perfectly! And, as it turns out, this is a pretty groovy little lamp (it does take about an hour or so to "warm up" when first turned on, which is normal). I also love the color on this one. The wax is yellow but appears green at times through the blue water. **Q: light bulb socked is crooked, is that the way it is supposed to be?** A: no, maybe you can exchange item or get money back. I did not have problems with mine being crooked. **Q: 2nd time running the lamp and all the wax started making this path to the top and not really doing what it normally would. 2 hours later the liquid level dropped and the wax is still stuck in this long glob at the top that extends to the bottom. It appears that the wax solidified abnormally and possibly air has gotten …** A: Mine did the same thing on the second time running. I called the manufacturer. They said run it 3-4 hours a night for 3 nights. If the same, let cool and turn bottle like you turn a doorknob, to the right and then back to center. Turn on again. Now the wax moved into the long glob and came down and just sits in a ball, waiting to flow upward. I called again, they said run it 10 hours a day for 3 days--if no change, call and they will mail a new one--no need to return old one. I will begin the 10 hour run tonight(1/2/15) and post an update. It also is no longer handled by Amazon, temporarily. But I honestly don't know what store to go to in order to buy a lava lamp (other than spencer's). The price was also a strong push. I figured if it turned out to be a disaster, I could return it in time and get a new one by Christmas. With all that being said, this product exceeded my expectations. I followed the instructions in the box when I received it so I would avoid any human error issue. I left the lamp on a few hours to make sure it worked - It's a gift so I wanted to check before I gave a dud as a gift. I cooked dinner, came back and the lava was dancing around like sugar plums! I love it! I love the colors and it's so much fun to have on - I might have to keep it.
