## Description

The highly acclaimed Gran Turismo makes its highly anticipated

Review: Gran Turismo travel version! - Gran Turismo has been one of my favorite all-time racing game and this version for the psp portal is no exception. Lets get to the reviews. The game has all the tracks from the previous GT versions so there's no worrying about having to race on a few tracks that can get boring after awhile. The graphics is fantastic! Music is ok - good music would definitely increase the fun factor of highspeed racing. The game offers more challenges on the tracks to build up your driving skills and many trophies to win. The game starts out with a generous 100k in your account to buy your racing car and start racing. There are just about every cars you can think of in GT,however, you are limited to just four kind of "make" vehicles you can choose from depending on the day or number of races you have won. For instance, today on my psp when I go to the dealerships I can choose to buy from Bugatti, Ferrari, Nissan, and Acura, since I race Super Class with the Honda (Acura) NSX LM car, the dealership will change car companies every 2 or 3 wins I completed. And if I don't race much, the dealerships will change after 1 - 3 days. I usually race 5 laps. You don't really know when the next car dealership will come around once it is gone, but it will come. This really shouldn't make it less enjoyable because "real" GT racers need to build the cash from wins, learn how to drive their cars effectively, and eventually you will have every cars you wanted thats in the game. There is no career mode and no fixing-up cars such as engine/springs/coils/exhaust/etc performance upgrade. This doesn't stop the fun factor because the GT for the psp is considered as "on-the-go" where you focus more on the racing and enhancing your skills of driving than worrying about the 5 extra hp you will gain from a spoon exhaust. The loading time is a discouragement, but thats because the game is jam pack with graphics, driving physics, and numerous tracks. Why is the loading time so slow? Well, if I am correct - the fat psp has only 32MB of ram and the new slim psp has 64mb of ram; this is not nearly enough fast memory for a game like GT. PSP needs atleast 512mb of fast ram and an improved UMB disc drive. The game does provide the option to store GT on your memory stick which cuts down the waiting time to 45% - 55%. Overall, this game is awesome and "real" GT players shouldn't care about anything else than racing and improving on the cars that they race in.
Review: Good PSP Game - I had this game for my psp and ps3 however my psp version was damaged 2 yrs ago in a housefire. I have been meaning to replace it and finally I decided to do so. I found this game at a good price and bought it. I like the graphics in this game and there are tons of cars to get. One thing I noticed is that in the psp version a player can increase the laps for races and gain more credits for 1rst,2nd, and 3rd place victories where the ps3 version doesnt seem to have that option. I still enjoy this game alot and recommend it to anyone who loves racing games.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great car porn, but...
*by C***S on December 29, 2010*

I've been getting into racers more and more over the last seven-ish years, although I would hardly say I'm much of a buff. Most of my experience so far has been with arcade-style racers, with the Midnight Club and FlatOut series forming the backbone of my experience, though I've spent some time with Wipeout and Ridge Racer as well. I, however, have started to like car porn, and while some of those titles are alright for that, Gran Turismo is pretty much the granddaddy of video game car porn. Being without an HD console, I figured I'd try the PSP version; relatively inexpensive, so what's the harm, right? I'd say the price I paid was worth it for the ability to (eventually) purchase the 800+ cars available. The car graphics are pretty easily the best I've seen on the PSP (although every other polygonal model in the game is pretty much terrible); though I don't get to see them as much as I might have expected, since the game encourages a driver's seat view, and I've easily had the most luck playing that way. The physics, I've heard, are super-realistic or something. Since I'm not much of a driver in real life, you'll just have to take my gut instinct's agreement with that as the best confirmation I can give you. It definitely feels at times like the game would be easier with a steering wheel, and I can see why some people would pay the ridiculous prices GT5 racing wheels go for. I still think they're throwing their money away, but hey, what do I know. The lack of a real career mode is a bit of a downer, as countless others have said, but considering that this game is very little but car porn--very, VERY good car porn--I'm willing to forgive that. I'm willing to forgive just about everything that detracts from this being a good game, considering that I don't really think it was ever meant to be a good game. It's all about the cars, how damn pretty the cars look on the PSP's screen, and driving the cars. Plenty of other people have made the complaints of this game qua its gameness before, and I'll confirm them: it is inconvenient that you can only access four random dealerships a "day"--in-game days are, at least, very short--and inconvenient that at least some dealerships have a random selection of their cars available; though for me, who again isn't normally much of a car person, it's not necessarily a bad thing. The unlockables are fairly bland--more tracks, the ability to play your own mp3's, whatever. The default music is--well, actually the default music is some of the best I've ever heard from a racing game. It's not _good_, but it's not actually bad, either. It's unoffensive background noise playing under your engine and wheel noises. There's a very forgiving curve--even players not particularly good at this sort of game can make in-game credits (used towards purchasing more cars) without much difficulty. However, the credits earned from a poorly executed race aren't really enough to hold someone's interest, if he's unable to improve. And here's where things get a little sticky for the game, even with the concession that it isn't really a game. Since the lack of an online multiplayer structure prevents competition with much more than yourself and the AI, the main draw for anybody to continue playing the game is clearly unlocking more cars to drive. You do this by paying credits, which you earn from completing challenges meant to teach you how to play the game, as well as by completing races. However, the challenges don't really do a very good job of teaching what they're meant to teach. This is my first "real driving simulation" style racer, so I'm fairly unused to the physics of the thing; and while I've managed to get gold in all the challenges I've attempted so far (even the really frustrating ones that took countless retries to do so), I don't feel like my innate understanding of the physics or my racing in general have improved to any significant extent. Perhaps my deficiency in an attention span contributes to that, but you'd still think a difficult tutor would have a bigger impact. Practical practise (ie, actual racing), of course, will make perfect (someday), but when the steps to perfection involve a ten foot jump, having a ladder around would be handy; without it, one's attention could easily be drawn elsewhere. In short: it's not very good at being a game, but it excels at car pornography; though it could be a bit better at it (well, at both things, actually) if it would only include a better introduction to the sub-genre.
