The accessory mount seems to be made of a nylon or glass filled plastic material and not aluminum like the main body of the mount. I have been using it with a NiteRider light for several months now and it is very sturdy and has not moved even on some pretty bumpy gravel trails. **Q: Does the gopro mount screw into the aluminum of the mount or only into the plastic garmin insert?** A: The Garmin insert. **Q: How much does it weigh?** A: Not very much. A couple of ounces maybe. I use this mount for my Garmin Edge 800, which fits snugly into the top mount and my NiteRider headlight, with the addition of the NightRider adaptor for GoPro mounts. It's all nice and tight, seems sturdy and is compact.
