First of all, it's not a thin cheap mesh. It is a strong metal! The slightly bigger size makes it amazing! Since we are on a septic tank, I need to stop things from going down the drain -- and I need what stops those things to be easy to clean. This is perfect!My first drain stopper, put in by the construction guys, was old-fashioned -- not in itself a deal-breaker, but it frequently rotated by itself to the position that stopped up the sink and backed up all the water. So I went looking for a replacement. I came up with a fancy thing that when it clogged allowed you to push down on the center handle to drain more water without letting debris go through. The problem with it was that it was very difficult to clean because you couldn't get the debris knocked out of it and cleaning it with any implement required a lot of jiu jitsu.So I purchased this little simple one with high hopes. I love the little tab that lets you lift it out of the drain without prying anything under the lip. I've had no issues with it floating around in the drain, or letting debris slip past. It seems to work perfectly for me, unlike comments from some other reviewers. My drain opening is just a standard size, nothing special.Anyway, excellent value, loved the little brush they sent to clean it if something ever gets stuck.
