Where this experience preferably extends to having done some simple programming that makes some cells be dependent on the values of other cells. Well, ok, the current book does involve more intricate coding. But you still do not have to be a professional programmer.The examples in this guide are careful to use the terminology of accounting and finance. They all involve common needs you are likely to have, in asking the e-business suite R12 to analyse the underlying data. Topics include budgeting, where this can span several quarters or years, and where the budget organisation might be a department or group of departments in the company.Another handy topic is the ability to transact in any currency other than that defined as the ledger currency. The only requirement being that an exchange rate is defined between these. There is one restriction as far as I can tell from the text's documentation of this feature. The exchange rate has to be entered by hand, and it can vary as a function of time. I suspect that there must be a module or subroutine that can take these from another database, perhaps as a Web Service. For example, another book I recently reviewed, Mastering Magento, does exactly that.Along these lines, a later chapter of Iyer talks about credit management. Since that is very high value information. So why doesn't Oracle do likewise for exchange rates?
