As far as brightness goes, you have halogen, then the advanced halogen (silver star, ultra, xyz, etc...) but I would recommend a good set of HIDs if you really want true brightness. Just don't go over 5000K because that's when the lights start to change colors and what not. I paid almost $40 for a pair of silver stars, they were definitely an improvement over my original halogen bulbs but didn't last long. I would say in three months time, the brightness was just the same as my original halogens, if not worse.
