## Description

From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of It Ends with Us comes a passionate tale of friendship, betrayal, and romance. At twenty-two years old, Sydney is enjoying a great life: She’s in college, working a steady job, in love with her wonderful boyfriend, Hunter, and rooming with her best friend, Tori. But everything changes when she discovers that Hunter is cheating on her—and she’s forced to decide what her next move should be. Soon, Sydney finds herself captivated by her mysterious and attractive neighbor, Ridge. She can't take her eyes off him or stop listening to the passionate way he plays his guitar every evening out on his balcony. And there’s something about Sydney that Ridge can’t ignore, either. They soon find themselves needing each other in more ways than one.

Review: "Lines are drawn, but then they fade. For her I bend, for you I break." - Oh Colleen Hoover what you do to me .... You are a writing genius ... your words evoke more emotions out of me while reading one book then I ever thought were possible. I felt scared, heartbroken, hopeful, confusion, anger, and love. Music has always spoken to me so this book really touched my heart and soul in so many ways. I felt every single word on every single page. The characters were so easy to love, every single one of them Ridge, Sydney, Maggie, Warren and even Bridgette. This was a story where there wasn't really a bad guy. This was a story where the heart took the lead. You can't help who you fall in love with. Regardless of what your brain might tell you in the end the heart always calls the shots no matter how we fight it. "There are only twenty-six letters in the English alphabet. You would think there would only be so much you could do with twenty-six letters. You would think there were only so many ways those letters could make you feel when mixed up and shoved together to make words. However, there are infinite ways those twenty- six letters can make a person feel" Sydney Blake believes that she is content, almost happy in the life she is currently living. She has a great boyfriend Hunter, an awesome roommate who is also her best friend Tori, she works in the campus library and is studying what she loves music. Even though her parents disapprove, he wanted her to be a lawyer, she is happy doing what she loves. Hunter is pressuring her to take their relationship further and move in with him, but she refuses because she wants to be her own woman and independent. However even with all the bad she is content and happy in her life right now. "Lines are drawn, but then they fade. For her I bend, for you I break." She has a neighbor, Ridge, who plays absolutely beautiful music with his guitar every night from his balcony ... she gets her own private concert as she watches him every night. His music touches her and inspires her, she puts words to his music and together they create a song. But then ... everything falls apart. On Sydney's twenty second birthday Ridge tells her that Hunter and Tori her best friend/roommate and boyfriend are having an affair. What does she do ?!?! Where will she go ?!?! After a heated, face punching discussion, Sydney leaves her apartment with nowhere to go. "Great. I’m crying now. I’m a purseless, crying, violent, homeless girl. And as much as I don’t want to admit it, I think I might also be heartbroken." Sydney is heartbroken, homeless, and completely desperate. When Ridge offers her a place to stay she accepts with hesitation but she doesn't have another option. As part of the arrangement Sydney and Ridge write music together. Each word, each chord, brings them closer together, night after night they write and soon a connection is made that neither one of them can deny. You see the problem is that Ridge has a girlfriend Maggie, and well there is something special about Maggie and regardless of how he feels he will NEVER leave Maggie. "Hey, Heart. Are you listening? You and I are officially at war." As they write music together and develop a deep emotional bond, they battle the war within themselves to do what's right and not act on what they feel. This story is told in alternating POV's from Ridge and Sydney and does an outstanding job of relaying to the reader their feelings and struggles throughout this amazing story. So much so that when this story climaxed I was completely and utterly shattered, my heart broke, and I honestly believed Colleen wasn't going to fix it, I doubted her abilities, there wasn't enough time left in the book. NEVER doubt Colleen Hoover she will not leave you heart broken and crying into your pillow. "Our souls aren’t just compatible— they’re perfectly attuned . I feel everything she feels. I understand things she never even has to say. I know that what she needs is exactly what I could give her, and what she’s wishing she could give me is something I never even knew I needed. She understands me. She respects me. She astounds me. She predicts me. She’s never once, since the second I met her, made me feel as if my inability to hear is even an inability at all." I can't tell you with words how much I loved this book ... But I highly recommend that you read it ... it is most definitely one of those books that will stick with you for a lifetime.
Review: Oh, isn't love a battlefield? (SPOILERS) - I have read this book twice. While it isn't my favorite Colleen Hoover book, it's still an entertaining read and I actually shed a little tear at one point! I absolutely love the songs provided with this eBook. The book is well written and the characters are well developed, as you probably guessed, since this IS a Colleen Hoover book. Sydney is such a lovable character, but she annoyed me a few times (It's the little things that drive me mad.) I liked Ridge, simply because he's a great guy—for the most part. Since he's an artist, he's very good with words. Though there is one thing that surprised me about Ridge—close to the beginning of the book, we find out Ridge is deaf! I don't know, I just thought that made this story even more interesting. A deaf musician? I think it's pretty awesome Colleen created a character like Ridge. Ridge is a very inspirational character, even with his flaws, because he's deaf but managed to develop such talent. There are also some things that bothered me about Ridge. He cheated on his long-time girlfriend, Maggy. It bothered me, because truly, I loved Maggy more than I loved Sydney. Maggy is just...she's...well, she's perfect. It was a kiss, but they knew what they were doing and they knew it was wrong. They knew they had feelings for each other, but kept doing what they were doing. Ridge didn't have to touch Sydney or kiss her to write music with her. Saying something, like, “I couldn't control myself,” is an overused, bullsh*t excuse. Ridge is the one that should have known better. Maggy is such an innocent little queen, and he just disrespects her like that. Sydney didn't have any kind of relationship with Maggy, so I didn't really get mad at her about the whole ordeal. She was weak with Ridge, but there aren't many single young women out there that wouldn't be weak with a guy like Ridge. I kind of felt bad for Sydney, because Ridge was so committed to Maggy, and was kind of leading Sydney on for a while... I thought it was dumb when Ridge said Maggy had half his heart, and Sydney had the other half. I mean, in the real world, who would stick around if the person they love said they love you, but love someone else the same? I'll tell you: NOT a person like Sydney. A damsel in distress is not Sydney. Sydney is a very smart girl, she's tough, and she does not tolerate cheaters. (In the beginning of the book, she catches her boyfriend cheating with her best friend. She punches them both in the face before immediately leaving. That's why she moves in with Ridge.) It just bothered me that Ridge didn't clarify, because it's pretty obvious that his love for Maggy is different from his love for Sydney. I like Ridge's character and his talent, but he's not the ideal boyfriend because of what he did to Maggy and Sydney. Trying to shuffle two girls around when one of them is your long-term girlfriend isn't okay. I know he wanted to pick, but if Maggy wouldn't have left on her own (If she didn't find out about Ridge and Sydney), I believe he'd still be trying to shuffle the two of them. He said he loved them both equally, so... But I don't know. That's the main problem I had with this book. Ridge didn't act maturely, so he ended up hurting two girls he cares about. He has a good heart, but he's not exactly...a rational thinker. He's human...but a MAN wouldn't beat around the bush with one girl, kissing and touching and showing he has feelings for her – while he's also doing those things plus some you-know-what with the girl he's in a committed relationship with. I did a note-to-self at the end of the book, because Ridge DID learn from his mistake, and as a result, he matured a bit by the end of the book. I'm glad Sydney and Ridge ended up together, because they do genuinely love each other, but I was left wondering about Maggy and I wanted to know if she was okay or if she found a new love herself. She deserved so much better than what was handed to her. If Maggy and Bridget switched places (the testy, and really rude roommate in the book) it'd be a lot easier for me to process the whole cheating thing. To put it short, treating such pure souls with disrespect could leave them bitter and paranoid someday. Delicate flowers are supposed to be handled DELICATELY, and if Maggy wasn't such a pure soul, the cheating thing would not bother me that much. I'm rating this book 4 stars, because I was so involved in it. I remember everything I read. It held my attention like nothing else, though I was annoyed with Ridge and sometimes Sydney at points throughout the book. I enjoyed the book, though I want Maggy to have a happy ending, too. PLEASE WRITE A BOOK FOR MAGGY, COLLEEN. SHE DESERVES ONE! Plus, there needs to be closure. I want Ridge and Sydney to be in her life as her friends eventually. I want Maggy to find her true someone, even if she's not going to have a long life. Please, Colleen. Give this amazing woman a happy ending!

I cannot begin to tell you how excited I was to be given an opportunity to review Maybe Someday before it's release. But I had so many other books lined up that I had to keep putting it off. Till yesterday at least. Yesterday I decided was going to be the day. I sat down thinking I would start it and hopefully finish it today or tomorrow. That didn't happen. I stayed up all night. I couldn't put it down. The time flew by and before I knew it, it was 6am and I was sobbing. I won't lie and say I never cry reading because I do. I think we all do. However, there are very few books that make me cry several times and even fewer that cause me to break down. Colleen Hoover ALWAYS makes me break down. I think I love her and hate her for it. She has this unique ability, that I'm convinced very few people possess, to stab you in the heart with words. Words that she writes in such a way, that they not only stab you, they dig in and twist and turn. They get so far into your heart that you can't breathe because it hurts. You sit there trying to get the words out of your heart. You put the story down. You get up and pace. You take a drink of water. Anything to quell the onslaught of emotional distress these words cause you. But you can't. You can't because Colleen's words aren't poison that you want out of your body. They're words that speak to on our most basic level, they're words of love, friendship, compassion, trust. They're words of endearment, longing, passion, and faith. They're words that every one of us wants no needs to hear in our lifetime. They're words that leave you breathless. They're words that leaving you a sobbing mess on your couch. I'm not going to reveal any major spoilers however this next part is a little revealing. So if you want to read the story blind then don't read any further. It won't really ruin the story for you. This story, wow this story, that Colleen tells will make you believe something that many of us probably think is impossible. That one person can truly and completely love two people at the same time. That our souls are compatible with more than one person. It really makes you stop and think. Can I love, like love love more than one person? Is it true love, not infatuation or obligation? Can my soul mate with two people? Colleen explores all of this with Ridge. You see Ridge has a girlfriend and it's no secret. Maggie is a beautiful, intelligent person. Someone everyone likes, even Sydney. So even though it's music and friendship that bring Ridge and Sydney together, it's also that same music that makes them fall in love. They fight it every step of the way though, neither of them wanting to hurt each other, or more importantly, Maggie. Some lines are innocently crossed and some are blurred. But at the end of the day decisions have to be made. Ridge also has a secret. A secret that changes everything. It sounds cliche I know but it really does change everything. It still hurts my heart to think about it. The implications of this secret, the way I was undecided about what I thought I wanted to happen, it's just so emotional and even heartbreaking. There's an element to this story that I haven't touched upon. An element I can't divulge to you, however I need to discuss it in some way. Maybe one of the reasons I love this book so much, isn't because the music, even though it's fantastic! It isn't because of the sweet flirting between Ridge and Sydney. It isn't because of the hilarious pranks the characters pull on each other. It's because Colleen shows us there's another way to love a person. There's another level to connect on not just sexually and not just as friends. She takes the term soul mate to a whole different level. It's about knowing there has to be some higher power at work because how else could you FEEL another person without having to touch them? How can you be so in tune to the other person that your hearts beat in tandem? This love story is on a whole new level, and explored in a way I never could have imagined. I never thought I would love a book more than Hopeless. I honestly never thought someone would knock Dean Holder off the pedestal I so proudly put him on. I just never in a million years anticipated Ridge Lawson. Reading Maybe Someday, while listening an original soundtrack created by Griffin Peterson, takes reading an eBook to whole other level. The music is so perfect, it's so much a part of the story that you HAVE to listen to it. It's such a creative way to bring together two artistic outlets, allowing the readers and music lovers to blend their stories together. Music is such a powerful way to communicate, reaching into our bodies making us feel the words being said. Much like a writer has the ability to make us cry, music has the same ability and yet reaches us on a different level. The songs in this book are so much more than words, so much more than just a simple story. I honestly didn't know much about Griffin musically until I read the book and listen to his songs. His music, his voice add so much more to the story. Griffin is certainly a talented musician and one to keep an eye on.
