Blend everything with that brush. Really use almost a full pump when I want a thinner application and a full pump if I know I'm going out and going to be out for a while. Although I know it's REALLY bad to keep your foundation on overnight, it happens from time to time. I think I had this on for 24 hours once (first and last time, never again) and my face still looked even and not blotchy. Keep in mind that even though it is matte, you should always set your foundation with a powder. If your skin is dry, still use a powder and then use a setting spray.
