This is basically the same quality as a high cost model for display rooms, but with less inputs and outputs, meant for consumer use. It was meant to be on and working for long periods of time I gather, because there's no power switch. The way you turn it off, is to unplug the power cord from the unit, or the wall. Using it is very simple, you plug the source into the input row, and plug a male/male composite cable into each/any of the outputs, and then into the respective devices. Of course, make sure you get a few high quality shielded M/M composite cables with this unit, or it'll be useless until you do.I would highly recommend this unit for doing Let's Plays, so you can be playing the game like you normally would on the TV while recording everything you're doing on a video capture card. To be paired with this, I recommend the StarTech SVID2USB2 USB 2.0 capture card. It's a fantastic addition to this product when recording an LP, and provides one of the best setups you can put together, video-wise, for under $100.I'll be uploading a sample video of what the card and this product produce to Youtube very soon. I am only using the audio section for distribution of the audio output from a Sirius Starmate ( with a 3.5mm to RCA cable ) into the dist amp, and then 3 outputs, 1 in the FR next to the Sirius Starmate for the sound system ( FR and mono block amps in the basement for the 1st floor sound system ) 1 to the MBR and 1 to the office.This allows the Sirius radio to be playing in the MBR, without needing to have the FR sound system on and added the office on a stereo input rather than use the FM receiver part ( prior install had the output of the last mono block amp pair to a A/V to Cat5 balun to the MBR only ).You could use the same concept to have a CD or MP3 player in multiple rooms by using the A/V over Cat5 and dist AMP.I have an old pair of the expensive Audio only over Cat5 ( 110.00 for the pair ) and a pair of the StarTech A/V over cat5 baluns (  StarTech.com COMPUTPEXTA Composite Video Extender over Cat 5 with Audio  )Both work great for the audio usage, reviews are good for the video as well ( allows for multi room A/V without running coax cable ).I installed mine on the back of the Bello AV stand, I used 10-32 screws and nuts, and a 3/8" nut as a stand off. I did not have a previous usage of them, and wanted air circulation around the whole unit. This is just the typical belt and suspenders install that I normally do, not a requirement by the mfgr. Then about 5 years ago the last of the major manufactures started to phase out AV OUT. I was fortunate enough to pick up a Yamaha RX-V677 here on Amazon that had an AV OUT capability as well as a ROOM 2 OUT, but I had a lot of analog equipment (Tape Decks (Reel-to-Reel, Cassette), CD Recorder, VHS, S-VHS and a DVD-Recorder but no way of getting the REC OUT or AV OUT to all those devices. The Cable Electronics Labs AV 400 Prograde Composite A/V Distribution Amplifiers solves this problem for me buy letting me take the ROOM 2 OUT function and splitting it across multiple AV distribution amps just for the AUDIO. It works good and lets an old timer like me still enjoy good ole analog equipment. I use a pair of these to extend the signal to all my analog equipment. They are slaved to the AC outlets on the back of my receiver so when the receiver is off so are the distribution amps.
