I don't think they'll last very long for a mechanic. I use them for astrophotography - to see the camera, telescope and mount dials outside in darkness. The on/off button is under a thin, flexible plastic cover that I think will eventually wear through but when/if it does, I'll buy another pair of these gloves.The branding of the gloves I ordered and what I received were different implying that they're all the same.
