You can just throw it around in the water so other people can shoot and play around with it. Picture quality is great! You can take the camera out to a three day trip to casually take pictures and you will still have charge left. Unless you intensely shoot videos and look through your pictures every time you take one, then you will need to carry the charger. On average, how long does it last or how many pictures per battery life?** A: I found battery life to be comparably short but my unit stopped charging the battery and then stopped powering on after three days of use. I'm not the best judge most likely. **Q: Is the TG-830 or the TG-820 better? I wanted the 820, and my parents bought me the 830 because they figured the never version would be the best. It malfunctioned a little and I just wanted to be sure this was the better camera in case I need to exchange it.** A: I was told by my vendor that the new model TG-830 has the GPS function which I love. The resolution is higher and is HD for the recording. You can do the comparison on both features. It takes pretty good photos for a point and shoot and has some cute features. However there are two things which keep it from being a great product , 1) the clicking in the background of the video, and 2) it does not shoot raw. The clicking has ruined some video I had planned to use as part of a presentation, and the absences of raw means that you can't really blow up portions of the photographs.
