Because of the way the book is designed artwork with yarn, cotton balls and other non traditional mediums can be protected and the book still works properly. The pages are heavy enough to feel comfortable and not so heavy that they obscure the artwork. The binding is tight and clean and provides a secure edge for the pages. It's a plastic cover and easy to wipe and keep clean (as are the pages) It holds a remarkable amount of artwork (I use both sides of each sleeve) and the quality is above standard. So I'm able to fit two issues worth of artwork into one portfolio (48 11x17 pages-back to back). I hope this helps. I'm really happy with this portfolio and about to order another one **Q: Will the sheets that come with the album fit 11 x 17 posters?** A: The Itoya Portfolio is great for displaying all types of art print even posters in their plastic sheets, but keep in mind these plastic sheets that can hold art are binded on the borders which actually decrease the size of holding art by a small margin.
