After reading Dragons Love Tacos 500x, I decided to give Secret Pizza Party a try and I’m so glad I did. My toddler adores this book. We read it morning, noon and night. It’s funny, age appropriate, and the illustrations are great.

Got this for my nephew because he is a fan of this author’s other books, but this one has definitely become his absolute favorite! We read it all the time and he has his favorite lines memorized. Fun short read with great art! Like other books by Rubin, it’s purely humorous and silly without much depth or lessons to be learned. Just a little guy who wants to eat pizza.Before buying the book I was worried about the other reviews that had concerns about the messaging, now I think that it’s totally overblown. Paraphrasing, but there’s a line that’s like, “secrets make things special,” but the examples in the book are totally innocuous: secret handshakes and hidden staircases. I think if you don’t want your kids to know about secrets, don’t buy them a book with secret literally in the title, or teach them difference between good and bad secrets.
