It requires access to an ip address. It can do that through a physical connection or through a wifi connection. It only requires a hard line at the time of set up, after that it acts as its own video server in either a wired or wireless environment assuming you have a wireless router in your network. **Q: do you have to pay a monthlt or yearly fee tp the company like drop cam. If so, how much?** A: I have 2 d-link cameras and no fee just hook them up and go **Q: What's the video resolution for this webcam?** A: The DSC-934L is 240p. Not good. **Q: It's sitting inside looking out to driveway. when on night vision it is unable to see through the glass and is capturing it's reflection off the glass** A: This a general photography issue - taking flash (or otherwise illuminated) pictures thru glass will capture the reflection of your illumination, washing out the subject you are trying to capture on the other side of the glass. If you can't mount the camera outside, try blocking the IR illuminators with electrical tape. The camera will still go into nighttime IR mode, picking up IR light, but you won't get the reflections of the illuminators. You also won't be illuminating your subject, so you will need some kind of light source outside. In my case, a porch light works great.
