## Questions & Answers

**Q: Does this set consist of a 1qt saucepan(top) and a 2qt saucepan(bottom)?**
A: If you are asking whether there are two pots and a lid, the answer is "yes". The top pan holds a bit more than one quart. When I poured in a quart of water, there was about an inch of space to the top. However, when filling the bottom pot, is did not hold quite two quarts. I had about 1/2 cup of water left over. This is not an issue for me as I wanted a double boiler and do not use the pots singly. The lid fits on both pots snugly. I have used this pot for making fudge, melting chocolate, and frosting, and I am completely happy with it. I am not sure the bottom of either pot is heavy enough to cook things other than liquids. I use double & triple clads for heavier foods. The stainless steel cleans up well.Hope this helps.

**Q: Will this work on induction stovetop?**
A: Short answer: No. Longer answer/reason: Induction cooking requires "ferromagnetic" (iron-based magnetic) cookware. Stainless steel 18/10 is iron-based, because the alloy is based on steel, but the numbers "18/10" refer to 18% chromium and 10% nickel in the alloy. Adding chromium makes it "stainless" and adding nickel makes it nonmagnetic. "Stainless steel 18/0" is magnetic (because it contains no nickel) and will work on an induction cooktop, but 18/10 is a much better grade of stainless steel. Some cookware is "stainless steel clad," meaning the stainless steel covers both sides of a different metal on the bottom. The bottom of this pot has an aluminum "core," which means the stainless steel is "clad" over a disk of aluminum. Aluminum is used on the bottom because it transfers heat much better than stainless steel, but since it is also nonmagnetic, it will not make it "induction ready." Some stainless steel clad cookware has a "core" of regular steel, which is magnetic, and those would be able to be used on an induction cooktop. For example, this one specifically states "induction ready": http://www.webstaurantstore.com/8-qt-stainless-steel-clad-double-boiler/922SDB8.html?utm_source=Amazon In general, if a magnet sticks to the bottom of a pot, it can be used on an induction cooktop; if it doesn't, it can't.Comment on other responses: Why are people who don't know the answer to a question compelled to "answer" the question with "I don't know" or worse, "I have no idea what you're talking about"? MILLIONS of people don't know the answer to the question, but you don't see them all of THEM chiming in with "I don't know," do you? Clue: If you don't know the answer to a question, simply DON'T RESPOND. Posting a nonsensical response does not help the questioner, and you're only broadcasting to the world how ignorant you are!

**Q: does this work on an induction stove top?**
A: According to Farberware, this is suitable for an induction cooktop. http://shop.farberwarecookware.com/Cookware/Farberware-Classic-Series-2-Quart-Covered-Saucepan-with-Double-Boiler-Insert-Silver-50057.html#product-useandcare

**Q: Is the inside non-stick?**
A: No, it is all stainless steel. Washes like a non-stick. Never had any problems.

## Customer Reviews

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Not high grade stainless steel.
*by J***R on October 22, 2024*

I'm very pleased with the two pans, but as I figured by the price it wasn't going to be high quality stainless steel and I was right. Didn't even come close to the magnet test. High grade stainless steel a magnet will not stick to it. Mid grade stainless steel a magnet will hold so so. Low grade it holds on well. the lower the grade of stainlesssteel. The better a magnet will hold. The magnet I used was a low grade magnet that holds a photo on my refrigerator. Not a strong magnet at all. It stuck nicely onto both pans. I have to say. I do love Farberware products. I grew up using them. My mom and dad received a complete set of Farberware as a wedding gift. That was in 1956. My mom still has that complete set and she still uses them everyday. A life time of use and they still look great. One cam ask for more than that. A magnet will not stick them either. I bought a complaint set of Farberware when I moved out on my own back in 1979. I still have my set. Some thing, amagnet will not stick to them. The reason I bought these 2 pans. I bought them because my original set didn't include these size pans. I have been using non stick pans for decades. I'm tried of them only lasting a short time and wanted to go back to using stainless steel pans. So I bought this set. Being low stainless steel, they still clean up easily and cook evenly. In my opinion they're very nice pans at a great price. I hope this helps. A good quality stainless steel pan is going to cost a lot more.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Very Impressive for the Price, it's a Little Workhorse of a Pot!
*by C***. on April 10, 2025*

I picked up the 0.6 quart butter warmer/small pot, and it’s honestly an amazing little find. For the price, it’s hard to beat. The material itself feels solid and durable, and the thick, weighted bottom gives it excellent stability and helps it sit evenly on the stovetop. It heats up quickly and retains heat well, which makes it perfect for small batches of sauce, melting butter obviously, or just general warming and cooking purposes. The handle is classic Farberware style sturdy plastic that stays cool during stovetop use (though it does limit oven use, but that’s not really an issue given the pot’s size). I also love the spout design, which makes pouring super easy without making a mess. It’s deep enough to be useful but still compact and easy to store. All in all, this little pot is an impressive workhorse in the kitchen. Super handy and definitely recommended!

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Best pans I’ve owned
*by M***A on September 15, 2025*

This was my first experience owning stainless steel pans, and I made a significant mistake by utilizing a plastic spatula while cooking eggs. Fortunately, we were able to restore the pans to their original condition by scrubbing them with metal scrubbers, which required some effort. Every dish we have prepared using these pans has turned out exceptionally well, they are easy to clean, 100% scratch resistant, and while food occasionally sticks, this is a common occurrence. I highly recommend these pans and suggest purchasing metal utensils to complement them.
