I'm keeping the size I ordered, but I am going to have some serious helmet hair. Measure your head, google the protec sizing chart and probably go up a size if you are within .5" inch of the maximum measurement, or if you intend to wear a winter cap or wear your hair in a braid or some other style that will add thickness.If I were intending to go really fast or practice fancy tricks where my head might get slammed against a railing, concrete wall, etc., I would get something with more substantial protection. This one is pretty lightweight and the padding is fixed in with velcro.
