Do you need paper filters or will the basket work without it?** A: The baskets are stainless steel and you do not need paper filters if you grind the coffee for a percolator. We buy our coffee at Costco and use the machine in the store and set it to "13 Percolator". There is also Yonkers New York printed on the bottom as well. No I did not buy it here. **Q: How is the plastic knob attached to the top? Is it screwed in from under the top or welded? It’s entirely made of stainless steel, only takes four or five minutes to percolate, when you hear it, stop percolating it’s done and you pull out the inside parts. Pour them out and can save the rest in the fridge with the lid on they only drink one cup at a time.
