## Description

Allison Kramer (CARRIE CHAMBERS) suffers recurring nightmares and selective amnesia. She returns to camp to discover the truth only to find dark memories coming to life before her very eyes. In her exploration she encounters a sleazy ranger (JOHN LODICO) and kindly hunter (Scarface's VICTOR CAMPOS). Death awaits them, as the secrets of infamous killer Angela Baker are revealed. Sleepaway Camp IV: The Survivor is a sequel in the long running cult classic franchise. A test shoot directed by legendary grindhouse editor Jim Markovic was conducted in 1992 which never graduated to full filming. However, over the past 20 years the footage was rescued and painstaking work began on reconstructing the project using archive scenes from previous films as well as newly recorded narration and visual effects to create a "clip" movie that would approximate the original intent to as final a degree as possible. The result of years of work is now available as a 70min feature approved by the director.

What a great trip down memory lane for Sleepaway Camp fans! This film takes the 20 year old archived footage of the never completed Sleepaway Camp IV: The Survivor and edits it together with stock footage of from the first three films to form a history of the franchise as well as tell a new story in the back drop. A must have for SC fans and newcomers alike!

Fantastic item for the Sleepaway Camp-fan! Even though the Picture itself is not the best you could wish for, it needs to be in every movie Collection where the other movies in the series is. It's in great condition and the cover looks great. Very recommendable!

    The Big Bad Movie Hoax

Oh. My. Gosh.Where should I even begin?! Well, let me start by saying that I have been an avid 'Sleepaway Camp' fan since my childhood years. So, the late 80's, let's see. I was around 12 and I was always into the horror genre. I also remember watching the first three movies in this series and wishing for a long time that the franchise would come out with a fourth sequel. Alas, you know how the old saying goes: Be careful what you wish for! Now, I will share that I went into buying this movie with an open mind. I had already read the negative feedback before viewing it, along with some of the VERY limited positive feedback, but like I always do, I watch first and then pass my own judgement after the fact. Yup, and sadly, this time ... I got to say majority opinion rules here. How should I put this delicately for any sensitive fans out there who may have 'liked' this release?! I can't really, I'm so sorry, plain out: It SUCKED! I'm sorry, it did, and this is coming from a fan who usually ends up taking a liking to the 'underdog' films. I was one of the few fans who advocated for Halloween 5 when so many other fans put it down. Yeah, you heard me right: I liked that movie. But I don't like this one. AT ALL.Which brings me to my main point: Why is this even called a movie again?! Essentially, it's a recap of the first three films in flashback form. This is what almost makes up the entire 'movie', which wouldn't be so bad in and of itself if the viewer wasn't deceived into believing that this, ahem 'movie, had it's own new and cohesive plot line. Seriously, this should have been labeled as nothing more than a special feature DVD, celebrating the first three movies and the lost footage for the uncompleted film of '92. I'm insulted that this is passing off as a fourth sequel. There's no new plot to follow and I can't even begin to understand how to make out the ending, except for the 'obvious' on where they might have intended to go with it which is: Angela is still out there and alive. The box summary is very misleading because I didn't at any point see where 'Angela's secrets are revealed.' The flasbacks just show what we already know from the first three movies. There wasn't enough new footage to even explore that as far as I could tell. We get a few continous minutes of archived footage near the end of the film with small integrations of 'Allison' here and there throughout the rest. There's a small written summary on 'Allison' at the beginning of the movie. That's it. Hardly enough material to make a brand new sequel and tell a new story. I don't even understand why the movie is titled ... 'The Survivor' unless I read into it how I want to. But the movie confirms nothing about it.In conclusion, I'll state that I don't know what the original intentions for the footage might have been back in '92 had the movie been completed; however, in this case, I will say, I think it was better to let 'sleeping dogs lie.' Either that, or if they wanted to revisit this 'canon' in Sleepaway Camp history, it was better to forget the archived footage all together (keep it a special feature) and then recast to make a whole new movie with the originally intended plot line. The time period in the movie could have been set in '92 or '93, whichever they intended, leading from the time of the events at the end of the third film. At least this way, maybe I could have gotten a much better and cohesive storyline.Bottom line: I feel cheated as a Sleepaway Camp fan. I'm more insulted that it's being passed off as a brand new movie in the franchise. People, it's not! Please don't be deceived by the title. Nor the 'movie summary.' What you read is not what you get, plain and simple. I'll be honest, the only 'fans' who might find this worth their while are the ones who couldn't get their hands on their own copies of Sleepaway Camp II and III because they're out of production. At least you get to add some cool flashback scenes from those movies to your collection. But other than that ... utterly pointless.Return to Sleepaway Camp even puts this so-called 'movie' to shame. That used to be my least favorite in the franchise.Better luck on the next film ... if there ever is one.
