They are simply the highest quality, longest lasting, easiest to install, and best looking chains available. This comes with the benefit of reduced waste as a single chain lasts me literally thousands of miles more than most of the other competing chains (most pronounced with 11 speed models). I’ve also found them to be cheaper over the life of the chain as they stretch so slowly that they last as long as two or three competitor chains which has the side benefit of keeping the gears in good working order. If you’re a serious cyclist and you’re looking at Wippermann chains just get one and try it. I’m not usually an evangelist for a company’s products but with Wippermann I am. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Ultra durable chain *by P***T on February 3, 2023* Connex Whipperman bike chains shift very well, are extremely durable, and have a very easy-to-use quick link. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Shifts better than all other brands I've tried! *by M***D on May 15, 2013* I'm kind of a nut about smooth shifting (and quiet running) and have found that my chain has a lot to do with that. First off, any chain I've tried is far better if clean and freshly lubed than if even slightly dirty or dry. But assuming a clean, freshly oiled chain, this one is the best of the three I've used. The others are the KMC X9 and the SRAM PC971. On my bike, the Connex is positive, smooth as silk shifting and virtually silent. the SRAM is very close to the Connex; just very slightly rougher shifting (and still very quiet running). However, the KMC is quite a lot rougher than the other two, sometimes ends up between gears, and makes a lot more noise going through the drive train when just pedaling along. The connector link systems all seem to work equally well. They all look nice. I could very happily live with the SRAM chain (and I will, as I plan to rotate it with the Connex so I can always have one clean and ready to go). But the Connex is just a little better (for my bike, anyway).My set up is a Shimano hyperglide cassette (12-36), a Deore XT derailleur, and SunTour friction shifters. So I don't agree with the commenter who implied that the Connex is somehow known not to work well with Shimano drivetrains. Certainly not my experience anyway. But it wouldn't surprise me at all if what works best on one setup might not be best on another. For example, lots of folks rave about the KMC chains on their bikes, and I have no reason to doubt them.
