What I am most pleased with about this machine is that it can be adjusted within the color range of white noise sound to meet one's needs. In my case I've found I use more brown or deep noise for a drone-like background noise that is appealing to the nervous system at rest, parasympathetic. If there is an increase in activity outside of my treatment room I can adjust it to have a higher pitch that works as a reminder to shhh, be quiet. For best masking of noise pollution (street traffic, waiting area) I've been using the following setup: this LectroSound on the deepest setting inside the treatment room with a fan and ambient music, and the Homedics higher pitched machine in the waiting area paired with a fan.
