**Q: Does this have a handle to carry the basket?**
A: Yes it does.  It seems like it would work pretty well as a basket.  It quickly comes off the bike and there are two bars that lay along the basket top edge.  These two bars raise up and will work nice as a handle for a basket.

**Q: we are looking for a basket to hold a medium sized shih tzu dog would this do?**
A: I wouldn't put a dog over 5lbs in it. if you want the Cadillac of all bike baskets for a great doggie ride get the wald 157 giant bike basket. it holds both my dogs for a total of 17lbs. doesn't work on front suspension fork bikes though. you can get that wald through amazon too

**Q: Can anyone tell me how far apart the two pieces are that hook over the handlebars?**
A: About 5 inches.

**Q: There are some complaints that the the attaching hooks do not fit all bike handlebars.  What diameter handle bar will this basket fit?**
A: I have a huffy beach cruiser that I bought at Wal-mart and it fits perfect.  Not shown in the pic are also foam pads that cover the hooks to keep your handlebars from getting scratched.  If you have standard size handlebars it will fit.  I think people were referring to some over sized handlebars that are on some mountain bikes now.  This is an excellent product.  I have biked with it several times and now it's great.
