I think I may have been able to go with a child's large. My daughter is average size (8 years old, 4 feet tall, 53 lbs) and they were a stretch to put on. But she has been wearing them all this week at dance camp and hasn't complained about them being uncomfortable or anything, so we're getting by with the medium.The quality is good and despite her getting eye-liner on them that I can't get out, they have lasted well without getting runs or holes. I bought the two pack and I put one aside for her performance and have been making her wear the same pair all week and they are still good. The holes on the feet are not bothersome for my three year old, I thought I ordered the smallest size, so i was pleasantly surprised that the small fit my 2t wearing petite girl. The only bummer was, both pairs had a long run already running all the way up the legs. It’s very distracting and noticeable.
