I initially thought the cushion was too thin but my dog seemed to like it and I liked the way it looked so I kept using it. After using it for about 6 months, I can't wait to replace it. The already thin cushion has now been worn down into a lumpy mess. It's basically the same thing as laying in the floor for my dog. He is no longer comfortable in it and is constantly wanting to come up on the couch with me. It kept getting worse each time I washed it, and I followed the directions perfectly. Another annoying thing about it is the fabric of the cushion has so much pilling and stuck-on fuzz balls from my dog's various toys and blankets. It's also extremely slippery if you have it on wood floors. No grip whatsoever. My dog has slid into the wall numerous times while jumping into it. I like the design, fabric, and quality of the bumpers, but the cushion part of this bed is horrible in every possible way. It's super plush and well made. Only downside is it slides around easily which the dog doesn't seem to mind anymore, but I'm always having to move it back. After being washed a couple of times the bedding opened up and all of the fluff was coming out. Of course my dog wanted to play in that and inside of the bed she found an earring which luckily I was next to her when that was found or it would have been eaten.
