I had an excellent magnifying ruler in my home office and one day I could not find it. The local office supply store did not have what I was seeking, and when that happens, I go to Amazon. My previous magnifying rule had some distortion in it and did not wear well. No distortion in the magnification on this one. It is made of some type of optical plastic, I think, and the image is very clear. I would have liked it to be a bit longer, but this does the job very well. It has a bright center line to assist in lining up the rows of data that I am entering.
