The length alone can be adjusted to become longer, i. e 9”+ (up to 13”). Egs: 10 x 7 X 2; 11 X 7 X 2; 12 X 7 X 2; 13 X 7 X 2 or any length measurement between 9” and 13”. The draw has to be at least 9 inches long and 7 inches wide on the inside. I had no problems; still loving it. **Q: What is the measurement on the "fixed" side?** A: There is not "fixed" side. both sides slide out for fitting the tray to the drawer. The adjustable sides worked great for the small drawer space. I have 10 of each in mine. Except spoons i have 20. I was able to put 10 teaspoons & 10 tablespoons in the same compartment (teaspoons facing one direction, tablespoons facing the other direction). There was also still room to put several serving spoons & steak knives.
