The problem (besides eventual degradation of the cord) was I couldn't take them down on bad wind days and had to resort to crazy wrapping jobs to keep them from bashing around. Now I can just lift them off the hook.I am really pleased with these for my solid covered patio. The hook ones work on the tails and on the other patio that has open rails.
