I can't prove it, but multiple people testing both devices agree that it's less magnifying than the 10x binoculars. Also, the flashlight is dim and arguably pointless. There is no night vision in this scope, they market the flashlight and the laser pointer as tools to make viewing at night easier, which makes no sense and is on the verge of false advertising. It's difficult to get the image centered when viewing via the eyepiece - there is one small sweet spot when everything aligns but in most cases, the image is not centered and therefore it's difficult to use. I question whether this is 40x magnification. If you read the whole description it also says 12x. Which is it?
