Until I figured out that I needed more force for the needle to go in.Over all this is firm felt that is like a sheet of paper. It isn't cuddly felt. It's firm and paper like. It is a little thin but for what I need it for it worked fine.I am undecided yet if I would buy this again to make cat toys or not. But if you are looking for looking for felt to cut and paste to make a picture. I didn't get to open this package until a few days later. The first thing I noticed was the box wasn't snapped all the way. No problem, maybe it just opened during transit. I opened it and the first 4 sheets were cut on already by someone who had returned it. I don't think I should have to wait for another replacement product and return this package as it's an inconvenience for me to wait another week and not be able to use any of the sheets. The only reason why I'm giving 2 stars is because I do like the quality and stiffness of the sheets.
